I purchased Marshmallow Fluff a while back when I was drawn to it’s retro looking jar sitting up on the shelf in the shop. It has been sitting on my kitchen shelves ever since as I couldn’t decide what to make with it. Several recipes came to mind but I thought I would use it in a simple recipe that requires little cooking to start with considering that I have never used Marshmallow Fluff in any baking before.
So here is the pretty jar of delightful marshmallowy fluffyness (I must admit, I did try a spoonful straight from the jar and it is scrumptious!)
To make the Marshmallow Treats you need to gather together the following ingredients:
I made two different types, one square of plain marshmallow treats and one square of chocolate marshmallow treats and made them in my trusty adjustable Silverwood tin arranged in 20cm x 15cm size.
Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter
1 x 7 and a 1/2 ounce (213g) jar of Marshmallow Fluff
6 cups Rice Krispies
6 ounces Plain Chocolate
Method
Melt the butter in a large saucepan over a low heat. Add the jar of Marshmallow Fluff and cook over a low heat, stirring constantly, until the Marshmallow Fluff is smooth and pourable. I added half this mixture to 3 cups of Rice Krispies and stirred until well coated. Pop the saucepan of remaining Marshmallow fluff mixture back over a low heat and add the chocolate, stirring constantly until it is all mixed and smooth. Pour this over 3 cups of Rice Krispies and stir until well coated. I sprayed the unlined tins with Wilton Bake Easy. Pour the mixtures into their separate tins and press down evenly.
Leave to cool (you can pop them in the fridge at this point if you like) then, once set, remove from tins and cut into squares, the recipes yields 12 squares from each flavour. And enjoy! I would recommend keeping the plain Marshmallow Treats in the fridge as they tend to stay gooey and if you pile them up in a sealed container they tend to merge together! Store in Airtight containers and they last for a couple of days (though I would be surprised if they do as they got devoured quickly in my house!)
Here are the plain ones
And a selection
I must say the chocolate ones were more popular and they are delicious!
I think I’ll have to purchase Marshmallow Fluff in the other flavours as you can buy plain, strawberry and raspberry….yummy!
I purchased mine in TK Maxx but you can buy Marshmallow Fluff online at Amazon, Firebox, Cybercandy and other American food shops.
