This week I’m busy baking a cake order, but in between the baking, I’ve had a bit of time to have a proper read of Rosanna Pansino’s first cookbook – Nerdy Nummies.
I only recently discovered Ro’s work thanks to one of my good friends; Naomi, who said I should check out her YouTube channel. She has some really creative and fun ideas for baking all sorts of geeky treats!
The Nerdy Nummies cookbook was only released in the UK last Thursday 19th November and I got hold of a copy on release day!
It’s so bright and colourful!
It starts off with a section on the tools you’ll need and quickly moves on to recipes for cookies and cakes that you can use throughout the book. The book is set out in a chapter style with themed bakes that fit into different categories: space, science, math, gaming etc.. It’s just the cutest book!
I started off baking the chocolate chip cookies so I could create these Smart Cookies
The recipe states to leave the chocolate chips out of the mixture and stick them on shortly after they’re baked so they melt slightly to stick to the surface of the cookies, so I made up a batch of dough and set some aside to leave plain so I could decorate them.
I baked them in the oven for about 10 mins then made the little glasses using the templates that are towards the back of the book. Once completely cool, I decorated the plain cookies with the glasses and faces.
They turned out really well and are just too cute!
I can’t wait to try more recipes from this book and I highly recommend it as it has step by step tutorials for each cake creation which makes it very easy to follow.
If you haven’t already, go check out her YouTube channel and her website here.
